Community Spirit

As the first of its kind in the realm of craft beer festivals, the California Brewers Festival has garnered recognition for its unparalleled ability to bring together thousands of craft beer aficionados and food lovers for an experience like no other. Since its inception, this event, proudly hosted by the Point West Rotary Club Foundation, has been a beacon of community spirit, raising nearly $1.75 million for local charities.

Three decades of brewing

The roots of this esteemed festival trace back to the passion of one individual: Dr. James Peck, a dedicated Point West Rotarian. Inspired by his visit to the Great American Beer Festival in Denver in 1993, Dr. Peck returned brimming with excitement and shared his vision with our club. Thus, the California Brewers Festival was born, with its inaugural event held in Old Sacramento in 1994. Over the years, the festival found its home in various locations, including Cesar Chavez Park, where the Brewfest planning committee – sporting some impressively retro mustaches – geared up for the 1997 event. Eventually, the festival settled into its current location at Discovery Park, where it continues to thrive and grow.

As we commemorate three decades of brewing excellence and community support, we invite you to join us in raising a glass to the journey that brought us here. The California Brewers Festival is more than just a gathering; it’s a celebration of passion, innovation, and the spirit of giving back. Here’s to the memories we’ve shared, the friendships we’ve forged, and the bright future that lies ahead. Cheers!
